We
are all influenced and inspired by some place. Everyone has
some special place in their heart where they feel they belong,
physically or spiritually, the Gaels call this:
Tir nan Og (a place of the heart).
Being Scottish I
have grown up with tweeds and tartans, which are influenced by
th surrounding countryside and depict to whom you belong.
Shooting estates have their own tweeds and clans their own
tartan. I would like to offer a contemporary alternative to
this while still using the traditional methods. In these days
of transnational culture, the old forms of identity no longer
hold and people are free to make their own choices. The Scots
in general and the Gaels in particular are great exiles we are
always out of "place" and "time", this does not necessarily
mean we want to return to the rain sodden hills but are
forever searching for "home".
